  • Progress of Newly Resettled Families Reviewed

     
    A meeting, attended by Commissioner General for Essential Services, District Secretary for Vavuniya, Divisional Secretaries, Director, Ministry of Finance (National Budget), Coordinator for Ministry of Education, Health Administrators, Commissioner General of Agriculture Development, officials of Road Development Authority, irrigation engineers and several state officials who gathered at the 56 Division Headquarters, Kokkeliya, Vavuniya on Thursday (13), reviewed the progress of the resettled villages and livelihood programmes.
     
  • President Declares Open New Building for Faculty of Allied Health Sciences Teaching Hospital' at KDU

     
    President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open the new building for the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) premises at Kandawalawatte, Ratmalana today, (19th November). The Faculty of Medicine of the KDU is the only national military medical institution of higher education in Sri Lanka. The faculty is responsible for training and graduation of military medical students.
     
  • 'Hela Viru Rasa Udanaya' Phase 3 Opens for Public at Negombo


    Twenty-three exhibition stalls, erected by 23 Regiments of the Army under the Phase 3 of the Army’s latest ‘Hela Viru Rasa Udanaya’ project, began at Kadolkele Stadium, Negombo this evening (20), showing culinary skills of Army chefs and highlighting the importance of the use of indigenous food varieties among Sri Lankans.
     
  • Engineer Service Regiment Troops in Active Re-building Roles Given More Vehicles



    Responding positively to the vehicular requirements of the Engineer Service Regiment (ESR), now actively engaged in diverse nation-building roles, an initiative, adopted by the Commander of the Army in collaboration with the Treasury, resulted in the Army receiving a special allocation of  Rs 40 million for purchase of 20 troop carrier trucks, 20 three wheelers and 20 motorbikes.
     
  • -œArmy Northern Games -“ 2014- Held at Vaddukkoddai Jaffna Draws to End


    The “Army Northern Games – 2014” that got underway as part of the ongoing 'Healthy Army-Healthy Nation' project, initiated as a concept of the Commander of the Army, on Wednesday (19) drew to a close at Vaddukkoddai Jaffna College grounds with distribution of awards and certificates to  Army athletes who performed exceptionally well.
     
  • Retired Senior Tri Service Officers Enlightened on Army Roles in Security & Development


    Senior members of the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) of tri services on Friday (21) received an update on the Army's ongoing involvement in Nation-building tasks and its all-time readiness against any recurrence of terrorist threats from the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake during a special get-together.....
     
  • Army Rugby Players Do It Again


    Sri Lanka Army Rugby Team recorded a convincing victory against Air Force Rugby team by securing 33 points against 10 of their rivals during the Inter Club Dialog Rugby League 2014/2015 at Air Force Ground, Ratmalana on Friday (21). At the first half, Army Rugby Team played in aggressive manner securing 26 - 0 against Air Force.
     
  • First Phase of the Partially Complete House Scheme for War Heroes Commence Today


    The Ministry of Defence has launched a new housing project to assist war heroes who have partly built their houses with financial difficulties to accomplish their aspirations and to uplift the living standard of their families. This project is being conducted under the guidance and close supervision of Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa.....
     
  • Commander in Vavuniya Observes Progress in Resettled Villages


    Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on Saturday (22) with a view to receiving an update on the progress of Wanni resettlers, undertook a visit to the resettled villages, Kokkeliya and Nandimithragama in Vavuniya region at the invitation of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Wanni.
