Commander in Vavuniya Observes Progress in Resettled Villages


Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on Saturday (22) with a view to receiving an update on the progress of Wanni resettlers, undertook a visit to the resettled villages, Kokkeliya and Nandimithragama in Vavuniya region at the invitation of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Wanni.

The Commander while freely mingling with the re-settlers, talked to them and discussed their needs observing the public amenities by himself.
 
The Commander closely observed the progress of ongoing development programs, specially the temple, museum, pre-school, school, hospitals, roads and the statue of the Giant Nandimithra during his stay in the premises.

Major General Perera explained the visiting Commander the series of measures being adopted to improve living standards of those people. General Officers Commanding of 56 and 62 Divisions and senior Army officers were on hand with the Army Commander during this observation visit.
