Brussels-based International Military Sports Council (Conseil International du Sport Militaire), more widely known as CISM, is to inaugurate its first-ever Sri Lanka’s ‘CISM Day Run’ on Sunday (19) at Colombo Independence Square, commencing at 6.00 a.m. with the participation of 300 tri-service personnel, headed by respective three Commanders. CISM with its motto, “Friendship through Sport” as one of world’s largest multidisciplinary organizations, dedicated to promote world peace by uniting armed forces through sport, organizes diverse sporting events for the armed forces of 133 member countries world-wide annually. This is the first time the Army, as the pioneering major organizer for the arrangement, organizes the annual ‘CISM Day Run’ event in Sri Lanka with the support of sister services and the Defence Services Sports Board, chaired currently by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
