  • Maduruoya Produces One More Batch of SIO Qualified Soldiers


    17 officers and 158 other ranks who successfully completed the Special Infantry Operations (SIO) course at the Maduruoya Army Training School, passed out in a colourful ceremony on Sunday (13). At the invitation of Brigadier L.A.N.S Wanigasinghe, Commandant, Army Training School, Maduruoya, Major General K.C Gunawardena, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

    The Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa, to be in line with the visionary thinking of the Commander of the Army who encourages specific training institutes to document historic accounts as much as possible for the benefit of budding officers, saw one of its theses on the salubrious Diyatalawa and its surroundings, release as the book, ‘Battle of Randeniwela’ during a recent ceremony at the SLMA’s Colonel Fazly Laphir Memorial Auditorium.

  • Secretary Defence Declares Open New Civil Defence Force Facility


    Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa declared open the new Welioya Headquarters of the Civil Defence Force in Galkulama, Welioya yesterday (18th July).     The 21 - km long marathon event in the ongoing Defence Services Games - 2014 (DSG) that drew attention of all tri service sportsmen, added one more feather to the shining Army athletic records on Sunday (20) when Corporal G.K.K.S.V Gunasekara won the first place (men’s category) after beating more than 100 rivals.
  • Mullaithivu Troops Donate Ration Packs to Senior Citizens at Selwapuram

  • Army Coordinates Donation of Dry Rations in Wanni


    Two hundred and thirty one dry ration packs were donated to the families in Weherathenna village by ‘Success’ (Jayagrahanaya) Organization on the request of Brigadier K.G.D Perera, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division at 26 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Headquarters premises in Weheratenna on Friday (18).
