SLMA Turns Thesis Findings Into a Book

The Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa, to be in line with the visionary thinking of the Commander of the Army who encourages specific training institutes to document historic accounts as much as possible for the benefit of budding officers, saw one of its theses on the salubrious Diyatalawa and its surroundings, release as the book, ‘Battle of Randeniwela’ during a recent ceremony at the SLMA’s Colonel Fazly Laphir Memorial Auditorium.

The book, ‘Battle of Randeniwela’, compiled on the basis of a series of academic research and collection of historic data, gathered by a team of SLMA graduates for presentation in their dissertations for graduation, was thus produced as an SLMA product on the directions of the Commander of the Army.

The maiden copy of the book was presented to General (retd) Rohan Daluwatte, the former Commander of the Army who was invited to the occasion as the Chief Guest at Diyatalawa.

Professor K.M.P Kulasekara, Head of the History Department, University of Kelaniya, delivering the keynote address, commented on different aspects of the subject matter and highlighted the importance of a product of this nature.
