  • One More 'Yoga' Workshop Culminates


    A workshop on Yoga for Army personnel to enhance their mental and physical efficiency and spirituality was conducted at the Advance Infantry Platoon Training School, Kilinochchi during March 3-April 8. The programme got to a start as per instructions of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (SFHQ-KLN) and the commencement of the workshop began on March 3, 2015.
     
  • 68 Division Officers & Other Rankers Enjoy New Year Festival


    Officers and other rankers serving the 68 Division Headquarters under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on Wednesday (8) gathered together and held a Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival bringing joy and fun to the troops. At the request of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division, Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
  • 59 Division New GOC Takes Office


    Brigadier L.M Mudalige, on Tuesday (7) assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), 59 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) during a simple ceremony. In accordance with military traditions, Brigadier L.M Mudalige reviewed the Guard Turnout on arrival at the premises to be welcomed by senior officers of the 59 Division. Afterwards, a Guard of Honour, presented by the troops of the 59 Division saluted the new chief of the 59 Division.
  • Grand Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament Opened


    The thrilling six-a-side Army cricket tournament with 23 teams under categories ‘A’ and ‘B’ began this morning (10) at the Free Trade Zone Grounds in Koggala with attendance of Major General Ubaya Medawala, Chairman, Army Cricket Committee and several other senior officers. In this open tournament, 16 Army teams under category ‘A’ and 7 teams under category ‘B’, representing all the units of the Army as well as 6 civil cricket clubs....

    Sri Lanka Army-managed Ranaviru Apparels Industries at both Yakkala and Alawwa which have now gained international standards after their simple founding in the 1990s, once again saluted their workforce, mainly the differently able War Heroes for their excellent contribution to the phenomenal growth of the industry in the year 2014 during a fabulous ceremony at the Bishop's College Auditorium on Monday (6).
  • Mullaittivu Troops Put Up New Buildings & Learn English Language


    Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ- MLT) in the past few days, organized several projects which were of symbolic significance to the SFHQ-MLT. The first among them was the ceremonial opening of the much-needed new indoor gymnasium at the SFHQ-MLT premises, built by the Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) of the SFHQ-MLT.
     
  • NCOTS in Kala Oya Has Its Own New Year Festival


    To coincide with the New Year spirits, Non-Commissioned Officers Training School (NCOTS) at Kalaoya, Saliyawewa held its New Year festival at the NCOTS parade grounds on Thursday (9). Traditional folk games, marathon races, selection of New Year prince and princess, tug of war, fun-making events and many other spectacles added colour during the arrangement.
     
     
  • 'Workshop on Construction' Attracts 80 Army Personnel


    A full-day workshop on ‘Construction & Masonry’, meant to impart knowledge for Non Commissioned Officers (NCOs), planning to begin a new vocation after retirement, was held at the Non-Commissioned Officers Training School (NCOTS) at Kalaoya, Saliyawewa with the collaboration of Tokyo Cement Company (Ltd) on Wednesday (8).   • Release of 1000 Acres From HSZ Completed


    An extent of 570 more acres of land in Valali and Kankasanthurai South in the Grama Seva Division, Valikamam sector in the Jaffna peninsula were released by the Security Forces to the District Secretary for Jaffna Friday (10) morning for distribution among rightful owners. Under today’s phase, 397 acres from Kankasanthurai South and 173 acres from Valali in the Valikamam sector have now been released to the District Secretariat, thus completing the extent of 1000 acres assured by the Government. 

  • SFHQ-MLT Celebrates New Year


    Officers, other rankers and civil employees of the Security Forces Headquarters Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) held a festival to mark the New Year 2015 on Friday (10). This was organized on the directions of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT. Commander, SFHQ-MLT distributed gift parcels to the civil employees after the tea party.
