Calypso band, a byproduct of the Caribbean music traditions which has gained popularity among Sri Lankan music fans too for many years, has made great strides and claims equal prominence, among Army soldiers serving round the island. Giving a new revival to this merry-making feature in the Army, Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), fully aware of musical talents of Army Calypso teams operating under all Divisions, Brigades and other formations of the SFHQ-W, took a special initiative to assemble them under one roof for a Calypso Competition on Saturday (21) evening.
