    Sri Lanka Army formations in Wanni and North, in support of the government’s ongoing resettlement project under ‘Uthuru Wasanthaya’ programme, have to-date completed construction of 4575 new houses and rebuilt or renovated 2758 existing units on the instructions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya after the resettlement drive commenced last year. Soldiers serving field formations under Security Forces Headquarters.....

  • SVAB President Hands Over Another House to a War Hero

    Another valiant disabled War Hero received a newly constructed complete house this morning (27) when President Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya handed over the house to Corporal Ambagahapitiya T. B. of Sri Lanka Light Infantry. The house built at a cost of Rs.1.4 million was built in a plot of land owned by the War Hero in Werapitiya, Theldeniya by the Engineer Service Regiment soldiers.

    The general convocation 2010 for conferment of Masters and Bachelors Degrees of Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was held Thursday (28) evening at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall with His Excellency, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Officers of the 24th Intake at KDU received their bachelor’s degrees while senior military officers received their master’s degree in this convocation.
