Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W), marking its 12th anniversary conducted a series of volleyball and wrestling tournaments among officers and soldiers of all Divisions and Brigades serving under the SFHQ-W.
The arrangement organized by respective Divisions and Brigades on the instructions of Major General D.G.H.K Gunaratne, Commander, SFHQ-W, as a prelude to the forthcoming 12th anniversary of the SFHQ-W started on 25th October 2010 and continued until 27th October. Championship in wrestling was one by wrestlers in 611 Brigade and the 612 Brigade carried the runners up. The overall best wrestler trophy went to Private E.E.D Edirimanna of the 611 Brigade. The women’s tournament had 13 weight categories.
The final tussle in volleyball took place on 28th October evening and the 563 Brigade finally emerged victorious beating its opponent, SFHQ-W team. The series culminated with the award of trophies and gifts to the participants. Major General Guneratne gave away those colours to the winners.
Brigadeir N.C.P Napagoda, Commander, 56 Division, Brigadier A.P.Z Wickramarathne, Commander, 21 Division and all Commanders in Brigades and Units supported the tournament and all arrangements.
