    EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR ENLISTMENT OF NEW RECRUITS TO THE SRI LANKA ARMY 2004 - (STAGE I) The deadline for recruitment of new recruits to the Sri Lanka Army has been extended up to 01 June 2004. The new round of recruitment commenced on 06 May 2004 and was scheduled to end on 25 May 2004.

    A foreign team of veterinary surgeons led by Dr. Tania from Australia and Indonesia at the invitation of 11 Division Commander Major General D.V.S.Y Kulathunga recently conducted a two-day long Immunization/ sterilization Programme for dogs inside the Panagoda Army Cantonment after many dogs were found affected by different infections.
  • Last UN contingent flies back home

    The final remainder of the first contingent of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops of 34 Officers and 344 Other Ranks who were deployed in Haiti on UN peace-keeping missions returned to the island this morning at 7.13 a.m. (17 May 2005) on successful completion of their assignment.
  • LTTE force ICRC to drop De-Mining work on A-9 road wayside

    LTTE men, paying scant regard to the concerns of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) for expansion of civil safety on the narrow causeway between the Forward Defence Line (FDL) of the Security Forces and that of the LTTE on the A-9 Road at Omanthai Entry/Exit point, have threatened to open fire against troops if they were to carry out de-mining as requested by the ICRC.
