The inmates of Mihindu Seth Medura, Attidiya celebrated their New Year Festival on 28 April 2026 in a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army graced the event as the Chief Guest. Upon arrival, the Commander of the Army was warmly welcomed by Brigadier P.D.N.I. Almeida RSP, Commandant of Mihindu Seth Medura.
The formal proceedings commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp. Thereafter, the inmates enthusiastically participated in a series of traditional New Year games.
Adding colour and excitement to the occasion were captivating Avurudu dance performances, a musical performance by renowned singer Sujatha Aththanayake and an entertaining New Year drama staged by students of the Leo Club of SAEGIS University, Nugegoda. The event featured a lively blend of cultural performances, recreational activities and festive traditions, creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for all present.
At the conclusion of the programme, the Commander of the Army and distinguished invitees presented prizes and trophies to the winners of the various competitions conducted during the festival. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also participated in the event.
