  • Kovil Given Required Timber Stock


    Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) in response to a request of the clergy at newly-established Wadduwakal Sri Sapthakannimar Kovil, provided the required timber for construction work of the temple. Following a recent visit to the premises by Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT, the council of trustees requested the Army to provide a stock of timber for completion of windows, doors, furniture and archways to the temple.
  • SFHQ-E Troops Organize Dengue Prevention Campaign & Mark 'Esala Poya'


    Troops of 18 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under the 231 Brigade of 23 Division in the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) organized a Dengue prevention campaign and a ‘Sharamadhana’ campaign to clear the surroundings of Vellaveli together with members of the general public at Vellaveli village area on Tuesday (8).

  • Wanni Troops Arrange Cycle Race to Uplift Sport Skills


    To uplift the sports skills of the soldiers, belonging to Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) region, 21 Division under command to the SFHQ-W organized a push cycle race on the directions of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W on Friday (4).  The cycle race arranged under two categories, Divisions and Brigades in the SFHQ-W area had a number of cyclists.
     
  • 23rd Death Anniversary of 'Hasalaka' War Hero Falls Today


    The 23rd death anniversary of Corporal Gamini Kularatne, popularly known as ‘Hasalaka Gamini’ who made the supreme sacrifice while defending his formation at Elephant Pass, falls today (July 14).  He lobbied a grenade against an LTTE’s explosive laden which was attempting to ram the Elephant Pass Army Camp on July 14, 1991 and perished preventing the enemy’s entry into the camp.  In recognition of this act of supreme gallantry Corporal Kularatne was awarded the supreme decoration a soldier can earn, the Parama Weera Vibhushana (PWV) Medal.

  • Monetary Donations Received for Monk's Funeral Used for a Worthy Cause


    An exceptional gesture of the most respected and widely known late monk, Ven. Dr Harispattuwe Ariyawanshalankara Nayaka Thero which advised his laymen before his demise, to use monetary contributions, received from the public for his funeral expenses to the worthy cause of building a new house for the family of a fallen War Hero, saw its realization today (14) at Theldeniya, Kandy.
