To uplift the sports skills of the soldiers, belonging to Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) region, 21 Division under command to the SFHQ-W organized a push cycle race on the directions of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W on Friday (4).
The cycle race arranged under two categories, Divisions and Brigades in the SFHQ-W area had a number of cyclists.
The male event covered 88 km, from 22 Gajaba Regiment (GR), across Pampemadhu to SFHQ-W entrance via Piraminayankulam, Gajasinghapura, and Medawachchiya. The male cyclists numbering more than 23 took part in the race and Private P Bopitiya won the first palce.
4 female cyclists participated in the female event which covered 36 km and it started from 213 Brigade and ended in front of the SFHQ-W entrance. Sergeant W.K Pushparani won the Race.
