  • Commander, a Keynote Contributor to PGIM Course Sessions


    Sri Lanka's prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Management (PGIM) on Wednesday (18) evening honoured the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake by inviting him to be a keynote contributor to the ongoing 'International Business Structures and Practices for Business Leaders' Course under the theme 'Military Leadership and Lessons for the Corporate World'.

  • Veheratenna Kids Have Their Concert


    The annual concert at Veheratenna re-settled village’s pre-school was held recently with the support of troops serving the area. Kids showed their talents and artistic skills in the show.  Brigadier Devinda Perera, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division and senior officers had been invited to the concert.

  • 68 Division Marks Its Anniversary


    Troops serving 68 Division under Security Forces Headquarters - Mullativu (SFHQ - MLT) organized a variety of programmes to celebrate their 4th Anniversary at 68 Division Headquarters premises on Friday (20). The programmes were organized under the guidance of Brigadier T. J. Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division and a special lunch was offered to all ranks of the Division to mark the event.
  • 4th VIR Boxers Win Inter Unit Boxing Championship


    Boxers of 4th Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) claimed victory over their counterpart, 16th  (Volunteer) Battalion VIR at the ‘Inter Unit Boxing Championship - 2013’ held at the indoor stadium at VIR, Boyagane on Wednesday (18). 16 (V) VIR became the runners-up in the tussle for 2013.


  • SLLI Training School 'Holiday Bungalow' Opened

    Adding one more new facility, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army on Monday (23) afternoon, called at the Boossa Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Training School at the invitation of its Chief Instructor (CI) to open the new “Officers’ Holiday Bungalow” in the complex. The new holiday rest, built through labour of the troops at Boossa Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Training School, received patronage from donors in the area by way of supply of raw-materials towards the project.
  • Glittering SLMA Ceremony Commissions 113 More Cadet Officers

    One more batch of 113 Cadet Officers, including two Maldivian cadets, affiliated to Intakes 77, 77B, Lady Intake 12/10 C and Volunteer Intake 53 who newly received their commissions at the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa, passed out on Saturday (21) during a colourful and elegant Passing out Parade (PoP).
