
100 new houses, built solely through Army labour within a record span of just 10 days with raw materials, provided by the government, were vested with needy Jaffna families by His Excellency, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa Tuesday (19) afternoon during a symbolic ceremony at Keeramalai. Sri Lanka Army serving the peninsula, on the instructions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya entered into house construction sphere for the first time soon after the war came to an end, launching its maiden 1700 house building project in the Jaffna peninsula under the auspices of Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces, Jaffna.The Army early this year completed the project successfully after releasing those new 1700 houses to needy families in separate inaugural ceremonies, graced by the President, Secretary Defence and the Commander of the Army.....
