  • Civilian Casualties : Cries of US & Its Allies

    WHILE KILLING hundreds of civilians in Afghanistan and in Iraq, cries of the United States and its allies on Sri Lanka (who has “Zero Civilian Death Policy” when fighting terrorism) remind us the story of a tricking thief who cried “thief, thief catch a thief”, just to avert the attention and as a part of a ploy set to escape from the crowd around him. As per the media reports, US is planning to rush hundreds of millions of dollars to Pakistan help fight the Taliban and al-Qaida. Last week, US-led air strikes killed hundreds of Afghans, including women and children and destroyed houses.

  • All Troops Poised to Finally Clear 'New Safety Zone'

    MULLAITTIVU: INFANTRY troops of the 53, 58 and 59 Divisions, now actively involved in the final phase of the rescue operation during the wee hours on Tuesday (12) closed in on the boundaries at the “New Safety Zone”. After risky night movements, the 58 Division troops hugged the northern boundary of the “New Safety Zone” (NSZ)  following intense overnight fighting which, saw Tiger terrorists fall  one by one, unable to face small arms fire of the troops. 

  • 'Shock Waves of Falsehood from Al-Jazeera'

    MUSLIM religious leaders yesterday criticized the controversial Arabic News Channel, Al-Jazeera stating that the channel was sending shock waves of falsehood on air about the situation of Tamil civilians and how they are treated and cared for by the Government of Sri Lanka and its Security Forces. The leader of Muslim Thelological Council, All Ceylon Ulema Party, Mowlavi Mubarak Abdul Majid said they regret that the station of Al-Jazeera has transmitted news items alleging Sri Lankan Government and its Security Forces of killing and.....

  • Palestinians Say 'Hands off Sri Lanka'

    “HANDS OFF SRI LANKA” say the Palestinians in unison angered and dismayed by the sinister manipulations and arm bending tactics of some self centered politicians of the West against Sri Lanka, one of the friendliest nations of Palestine. Palestinians, are fully aware of the struggle of Sri Lanka against the terrorist group called the LTTE who are trying to divide this small island nation on ethnic grounds. It is a well known fact that this terrorist group is engaged in trafficking of arms, drugs and humans.

  • Paris Temple Attacked

    SRI LANKAS main Buddhist temple in Paris, France was attacked by suspected LTTE supporters on Sunday evening, said a spokesman from the foreign ministry. He said a group of seven masked men had arrived at around 7.00 pm on Sunday and smashed the windows of the temple. The Chief Monk of the temple, the Ven. Paravahera Chandraratane Thero, and another monk had been present at the time, but no one had been hurt. On the same evening, a group of Sri Lankan Buddhists had held Vesak celebrations at the temple --   including a ‘Dansela’.

  • British Police Arrest 31 Pro-LTTE Protesters

    POLICE ARRESTED 31 people on Monday (11) after pro-LTTE protesters blocked roads around the British parliament. “There have been 31 arrests for highway obstruction,” a spokeswoman for London police said. A group of around 300 protesters had blocked traffic trying to cross the River Thames via Westminster Bridge and another 100 had blocked the road close to Westminster Abbey, she added.

  • Extensive Searches Collect Tiger Weapons & Explosives

    WANNI: SEARCH and clear operations of the troops are still continuing in liberated areas in VANNI in search of LTTE’s explosive devices and warlike items that might have been left hidden or buried. During a search in ASIKULAM area in VAVUNIYA troops found one T-81 weapon, one hand grenade, five magazines, one hundred and fifty ammunition rounds, one mobile phone, five LTTE dog tags, nine batteries, one military-type uniform and several other items on Monday (11).

  • Seventy-Nine Escape LTTE Death Trap

    MULLAITTIVU: SEVENTY-NINE more trapped civilians on Monday (11) escaped LTTE terror grip and ended up at troops manning a security point at   KARAYAMULLIVAIKKAL and MULLIVELI areas in the New Safety Zone. The group included twenty-six children and nineteen women. Troops after receiving them directed them to temporary shelters in VAVUNIYA with coordination of government authorities.

  • 59 Div Troops Cross Into Southeast of Sarvarthottam

    MULLAITTIVU: NORTH-BOUND 59 Division troops Tuesday (12) afternoon made another significant move and crossed the connecting bridge at WADUVAKAL to enter the southeast of SARVARTHOTTAM, next to the south of VELLAMULLAVAIKKAL. Entry of the troops dominated an area about 300 meters, ahead of them and started consolidating their positions amidst a rain of LTTE fire.

  • Fuel Distributing Centre Returned to Army

    The Paranthan fuel distributing centre belonging to Ceylon Petroleum Cooperation (CEPETCO), on completion of its renovation due to damages done by LTTE terrorists, was handed over to the Sri Lanka Army by the cooperation on 7th May. The regional Manager in northwest CEPETCO Mr. Muthu Banda handed over the ownership to Brigadier SMAWB Padeniye, Director Supply and Transport at Army Headquarters. This filling station with storage capacity of 13,500 litres of petrol and 36,000 litres of diesel is to facilitate distribution of fuel.....
