The second day sessions of the ongoing ‘Defence Seminar - 2013’ of the Army, focusing on ‘Regional Stability - Regional Perspective’ got underway at Colombo Galadari Hotel on Wednesday (4) with Minister of External Affairs Prof G.L Peiris and Senior Minister Dr Sarath Amunugama contributing to the sessions on ‘Political and Foreign Relations’.....
“India needs to be constantly cognizant of and concerned with the Sinhala apprehension without sacrificing the right to voice support in a friendly way for whatever genuine human rights concerns there are in the Tamil minority. The Indian Government however needs to rein in the sub-national jingoism that erupts from time to time in Tamil Nadu triggered by slanted English Indian and UK media reports,” Dr Subramanian Swamy.....
In his analysis to the delegates attending the ‘Defence Seminar-2013’ on the much-talked ‘Role of Armed Forces in Reconciliation’, Major General H.C.P Goonetilleke, Director General General Staff at Office of the Chief of Defence Staff, elaborated how the civilians under the clutches of LTTE terrorism survived and the transition of the Army from the offensive to humanitarian well-being took place by becoming front line.....
