  • Sri Lanka-Malaysia Co-operation: Co-ordinated Intelligence to Curb Terrorism

    DEFENCE Spokesman and Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday (16) said Sri Lankan Intelligence Units are maintaining a close relationship with Malaysian Intelligence Units and Police to curb LTTE activities there. Commenting on a report in the foreign media that Malaysian Police detected the presence of several senior Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leaders in Malaysia, Minister Rambukwella told the Daily News that the LTTE was functioning in several other countries and the Government was dealing with foreign Governments to end LTTE terrorist activities.

  • Peace walk to Jaffna Ends

    THE “Peace Walk” started on 9th May from Tangalle under the guidance of Mr. Namal Rajapaksa MP was finished at Point Pedro on 14th June after 28 days of walk. This “Peace Walk” was warmly welcomed in Kodikamam, Warani and Manthikai areas by religious leaders, civil administrative officers, school children and youth in the area according to Hindu traditions.

  • Maha Karuna Foundation Conducts Clinic

    A MEDICAL CAMP was conducted on 7th, 8th and 9th of June for the people resettled in Mannar by Singapore-based Maha Karuna Buddhist Association. Those camps conducted in Adampan and Veddithalathivu areas were attended by 1612 patients, out of which 382 were for the dental clinic. In addition, workshops and lectures were conducted on personal health care attended by about 1200 students and those organizers donated equipment to them.
