  • Cornerstone Laid for Construction of PLA Gifted Admin Complex at SLMA


    The cornerstone-laying ceremony for construction of the China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) gifted full-fledged administrative and lecture facility complex at the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa, took place on Tuesday (21), amid a Chinese delegation of the PLA and a representative gathering of senior Army officers.
  • Students to be Given Priority with New Fleet of Buses


    Extensive discussions, initiated and coordinated by the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), enabled Mullaittivu bus depot to get 10 new Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses for exclusive use of students and passengers in the area. The Mullaittivu SLTB bus depot with its daily fleet of 13 buses provided transport for passengers in the area although one of the buses out of them too was out of service, causing inconvenience to Mullaittivu passengers.
  • Colombo Teachers Help GCE (O/L) Students


    A seminar for students sitting the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) 2014 in Mullattivue District was conducted by a group of experienced teachers from Isipathana College, on |Maths and Science at Pudukuduirippu Central College, Mullattivue on Sunday (19). A total of 364 students participated in the seminar representing 11 schools in 681, 682 and 683 Brigade areas under the 68 Division.
  • Commandos' Anil Prasanna Secures Gold & Pradeep Sanjaya a Bronze in Para Games


    Sri Lanka Army’s Corporal Anil Prasanna Jayalath of Commando Regiment, made history in the 13th Asian Para Games in South Korea by winning the first Gold Medal for Sri Lanka in the 200 m (T42), held at Asiad Main Stadium on Wednesday (22).  Corporal Prasanna Jayalath clocked 25.87 seconds in the event and pushed Sri Lanka to be on the 18th place in the Medal Table with 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze while China, South Korea and Japan are respectively shining in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. China leads the table with 121 Gold medals, followed by the host, South Korea with 51 Gold medals.
  • SFHQ-C Troops Colourwash OPD Building at Nawalapitiya Hospital


    Troops of the 111 Brigade under the 11 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) conducted a ‘Shramadana’ campaign to colourwash the upper floor in the Outdoor Patients’ Department (OPD) at Nawalapitiya Hospital on Saturday and Sunday (Oct 18 & 19).   • Kilinochchi 'Deepavali' Programme Attracts Devotees

  • SFHQ-Jaffna Sends 'Deepavali' Greetings


    With the objective of promoting good relations and exchanging festive spirits, the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on account of ‘Deepavali’ festival on (Oct 22) delivered greeting cards to each and every civilian of Hindu faith in the Jaffna peninsula. The initiative, taken by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-J, expressed warm Deepavali greetings through a specially designed card which was delivered to the doorstep by all Brigades and Battalions serving the SFHQ-J.
     
  • Anandians Help Two Schools in Mullaittivu


    A group of Anandians of the Colombo Ananda College went to two schools, Mullivaikkal East Vidyalayam and Shivanagar Vidyalayam at Mullaittivu area of the 68 Division and helped school authorities to erect a new building and receive electricity.  A financial donation of Rs 120,000/= was given to Mullivaikkal East Vidyalayam for construction of a 40 x 19 size school hall. To get electricity for the Shivanagar Vidyalayam, a cheque to the value of 109,004/= was also donated by those Anandians visiting the schools.
     
  • Soldiers Pocket Out Own Money to Get Power Supply to the Barber Saloon


    4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) officers and other ranks of the 59 Division, offering their helping hand of understanding and friendship to a deserving civil tradesman in Wattapalai, Mulliyaveli of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), pocketed out their own money, enabling him to get electricity for his barber saloon.  Mr. Shanmugan Rankumar of Wattapalai, Mulliyaveli with his 3 children (2 girls and 1 boy), has been running a barber saloon....
     
  • Delegation from Chinese Academy of Military Science Calls on Commander



    A six-member high-level delegation of the Academy of Military Science (AMS) of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) currently on tour in Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake at the Army Headquarters Friday (24) forenoon.
