  • Army Shooters Excel in Hill Country Shooting Championship


    ‘Hill Country Sport Shooting Club Sharp Shooter-2015’ tournament, organized by the Hill Country Shooting Club got underway during 30 July – 01 August at Hill Country Shooting Club firing range in Hanthana, Kandy. During the tournament, the Army Shooting team performed exceptionally well and bagged the overall Championship in a convincing manner.
     
  • President Encourages Grade 5 Scholarship Exam Achievers Offering Incentives


    The seventh phase of the ‘Viru Sisu Pradeepa’ scholarship scheme, being implemented annually to appreciate and encourage children of tri-service War Heroes and the Police who excelled in Grade 5 scholarship examination, got underway Thursday (30) morning at the Defence Services College (DSC) for the year 2015 under the auspices of HE the President, Maithripala Sirisena as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Ministry of Defence.

  • 232 Brigade Marks Its 19th Anniversary with Many Welfare Activities


    Troops of the 232 Brigade of the Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) on Tuesday (28) organized a blood donation programme at the 232 Brigade premises, Thoppigala on account of its 19th anniversary. More than 60 Army personnel donated blood for use of at Polonnaruwa Teaching Hospital.
  • More Training Programmes for Army Retirees


    The Non Commissioned Officers’ Training School (NCOTS), Kalaoya concluded one more training programme, based on ‘Spiritual Bio-dynamic Traditional Agriculture’ for officers and other ranks who will shortly retire from the service with the support of the ‘Sanasa Nature Farm’ (Sobadaham Govipala) at Ukuwela on Monday (3). 17 Army personnel followed this 4-month long course, intended to further enhance their knowledge on farming and earn an additional income upon retirement. Award of certificates to those Army personnel upon successful completion of their training took place during a ceremony on Monday (3) held at NCOTS main Auditorium, Kalaoya.
  • Udayarkattu Students Learn Personality Development


    With the intention of developing leadership skills and uplifting the personality of the students in the 68 Division area, a workshop on personality development was held on Saturday (1) at Udayarkattu Maha Vidyalaya. The workshop was organized by the ‘Unity Mission Trust’ organization assisted by Mr Bertal Pinto-Jayawardena, Mrs Shyamala Pinto-Jayawardena, the founding trustees of the organization.   • 3 (V) SLSR Troops Mark Esala Poya with Religious Projects


    Troops of the 3 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under the 112 Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ-C), organized an Aloka Pooja and a Sil Programme at Sangamiththa Meditation Center, Nuwaraeliya on the directions of the Unit's Commanding Officer during 30 -31 July to mark " Esala Poya".
  • 3 Commandos Undertake Adventurous March to 'Saptha Kanya'


    Commando Regiment (CR) of the Sri Lanka Army with the objective of further enhancing its professional skills, physical capabilities and operational readiness, recently undertook another adventurous expedition cum exercise by way of a march to the famous ‘Virgin Hills’ (Saptha Kanya) mountain range of high altitude in Lakshapanagala.
     
  • Army Cricket Scorer to Officiate SL-Ind Test Match

    Lance Bombardier R.T. Sandaruwan of 4 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA), has been selected as the Chief Scorer for the 2nd test match between Sri Lanka and India, scheduled to be held during 20-24 August at P. Saranawanemuttu Stadium, Colombo, by the Sri Lanka Cricket Association. Lance Bombardier Sandaruwan also functions as the chief scorer of the Sri Lanka Army Cricket Team.
