  • Indian Army's Southern Command Chief Arrives Here on Goodwill Visit


    General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of India’s Southern Army Command Lieutenant General Ashok Singh PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM who is also considered as the Army Commander of India’s oldest, largest and one of the finest commands of the Indian Army, ‘Southern Command’, arrived in Sri Lanka Tuesday (18) afternoon on a five-day goodwill visit.

  • Indian Army Southern Command Chief Calls on Navy Commander


    General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of India’s Southern Army Command Lieutenant General Ashok Singh, now in Sri Lanka, began his itinerary on Wednesday (19), paying a courtesy call on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage at Navy Headquarters. A Guard of Honour accorded to the visiting military leader greeted him at the Navy Headquarters.

    Giving due respect to officers and soldiers of the Indian Army (IPKF) who served here, the visiting Lieutenant General Ashok Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of India’s Southern Army Command, recalled memories of their service in Sri Lanka by placing a floral wreath at the IPKF memorial at Sri Jayawardanapura, Battaramulla on Wednesday (19).
  • Signallers Construct Eastern Entrance 'Sandakadapahana'


    On behalf of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), Major General E. P. de Z Abeysekara, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant (SLSC), handed over a cheque worth of Rs. 520,000/= to Brigadier W. A. Ariyarathna, in charge of the ‘Sandhahiru Seya’ project for its construction during a simple meeting at the ‘Sandhahiru Seya ’(pagoda) construction site, Anuradhapura on Full Moon Poya Day (14).
