  • Manthai East Civilians Given Free Spectacles

    Reading glasses worth over Rs 125,000/=, donated by Peliyagoda Lion Club were distributed among needy civilians living in Manthai east in the 612 Brigade area during a mobile medical camp for eye diseases. The medical camp on Friday (27) at Pandiyankulam Tamil Maha Vidyalaya was opened by Brigadier A Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division.

  • 643 Brigade Gets Help for Poor Villagers

    A group of philanthropists, led by Ven Kaduruwela Sugathawansa Nayaka Thero of Wadduwa, Kudagonaduwa Uttarachetiyaramaya went to Kanagarathnapuram (No 56) village in the 643 Brigade Headquarters area in Muttiyankaddukulam and made donations to over 105 needy families. Parcels containing dry food items, clothes, household items, pre-school and other educational accessories and other essentials were distributed among 105 families during a brief meeting in the heart of Kanagarathnampuram village.

    The ceremonial opening and handing over of the 59 Division Army-built new pre-school building at Arumukatthankulam village in Maritime Pattu AGA Division in Mullaitivu was held on Monday (30).   • Commander, Chief Guest at Inter-Regiment Boxing Championship

     
    The Inter-Regiment Boxing Championship - 2012, organized by the Army Boxing Committee came to a close at Panagoda Army Cantonment gymnasium on Tuesday (31) with the participation of 12 Regiments. The final tussle for championship was witnessed by Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army who himself has been a veteran in boxing having achieved international referee status.
