    Maj Gen Udaya Perera recently received the prestigious United States Army War College Alumni Award for his academic performances and in recognition of his services as the International Fellows Class president at the US Army War College graduation ceremony held at Carlisle Barracks Pennsylvania. With that he will have the privilege of being a lifetime member of the US Army War College Alumni Foundation.

    An amount of USD 74,395.93 has been provided by the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations, as compensation to the family members of late Staff Sergeant Priyawansa H.M.T of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC) who was deceased while engaged in a peacekeeping mission in Haiti in 2011. The much-awaited event in the Gajaba Regiments calendar of annual milestones saw a total of 119 officers and other ranks honoured with medals and colours in appreciation of their outstanding performances in the field of sports and for bringing glory and reputation to the Gajaba Regiment.   • Rifle Corps Headquarters Welcomes the First Visit of an Army Chief to Its Premises


    The Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (SLRC), origins of which date back to the colonial era when British planters in the central highlands of then Ceylon formed the Ceylon Rifle Corps in 1887 as a volunteer (reserve) regiment, turned a new lease of life on Saturday (30) when its Kandy Headquarters for the first time of its history received a Commander of the Army as a Chief Guest.

Mullikulam Government’s Tamil School with both male and female students in the Iranai-iluppaikulam Grama Seva sector is one of the leading schools in the Mannar District.
