  • Close Boxing Tussle Places Army Runners-up


    Both Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force boxers bagged equal numbers of points in the recently-concluded ‘Defence Services Boxing Tournament,’ held at Katunayake Air Force Indoor Stadium. Army boxers collected 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals in the final tally but Air Force boxers collecting 4 silvers, as against Army boxers, emerged final victors.
  • Army Woman Footballers Beat Maldivian National Team

     
    Sri Lanka Army woman footballers in a friendly encounter with the visiting national team of the Maldivian women football team emerged victorious by two goals (2-0). The match played at Island City League grounds was witnessed by a large gathering of football fans and military officers.

    Air Chief Marshal W.D.R.M.J. Goonetileke, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army, Vice Admiral D.W.A.S. Dissanayake, Commander of the Navy, Air Marshal H.D. Abeywickrama, Commander of the Air Force, N.K. Illangakoon, Inspector General of the Police and Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris, Director General (DG) of Civil Defence Force (CDF) were on hand at Galle Face esplanade Wednesday (16) morning to review preparations and rehearsals.....

  • Secretary Defence Reviews Last Minute National Victory Day Parade Arrangements


    With a view to fine-tuning and reviewing the last-minute arrangements, connected to the National Victory Day parade (May 19), Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development, together with Chief of Defence Staff and tri-service Commanders, IGP  and  Director General (DG) Civil Defence Force, arrived at Galle Face Green Thursday (17) morning. Mr Rajapaksa, service commanders, IGP and other security chiefs and senior military officers received a briefing on the conduct of the National Victory Day parade from organizers at the occasion. 
     
     
     
  • 23 Division Organizes Vesak Zone


    23 Division Headquarters in Poonani under Security Forces Headquarters, East (SFHQ-E) conducted elaborate Vesak arrangements during May 5-8.  The Vesak decoration zone that covered Poonani junction, Batticaloa Gandhi Park, Vakare Pradhesiya Sabha ground and a few other areas included devotional song presentations, huge lanterns and decorations and Dansel (free eating houses).
