  • 57 Division Office Staff Join Vesak Commemoration Making a Lantern

     
    Members of the staff serving the office of the 57 Division Headquarters in Kilinochchi on account of Vesak commemoration prepared a huge Vesak lantern and exhibited it at the Kilinochchi public grounds along A-9 road. On the instructions of the 57 Division General Officer Commanding, the display of the lantern continued until Thursday (10) night.
     
  • 581 Brigade Troops Make Lanterns for Vesak

     
    Troops serving the 581 Brigade in Paranthan on the instructions of its Brigade Commander put up a display of Vesak lanterns at the 581 Brigade Headquarters premises on account of Vesak. The display during Vesak (May 5 - 8) attracted a large gathering of civilians living in the area.
  • Commander Visits Karandeniya Army Farm & MIC Construction Site


    Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya en route from the ‘Abimansala -II’ construction site inspection at Wilpitawatta, Kamburupitiya to the capital on Thursday (10), took time off his schedule and visited the 5 Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC)-run agricultural farm at Karandeniya, Ambalangoda. The Army-managed fertile farm, rich with varieties of different vegetables was begun several months ago by troops of the 5 SLAGSC.... 
     
     
     
     
  • Commander Makes a Surprise Visit to 'Abimansala-2' Under Construction

     
    Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army Thursday (10) morning made a surprise visit to the ‘Abimansala’ (wellness resort for totally dependent War Heroes) construction site at Wilpitawatta, Kamburupitiya, now fast receiving finishing touches. Major General S.R Manawaduge, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - South (SFHQ-S) received the visiting Commander on arrival at the venue.
     
  • Tri-service Officers Meditate at Kanduboda

    A meditation session attended by Army, Navy and Air Force personnel was conducted at Kanduboda, Siyane Vipassana Meditation Centre on Saturday (12).  The programme organized on the directions of the Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa saw 83 Army, 20 Navy and 20 Air Force officers attended the meditation session.

  • Soldiers Save Wounded Cows

    Soldiers engaged in clearing operations in Vellamullivaikkal in Mullaittivu had to play a different kind of role on 25th July when they came across two cows with injuries on their hind legs. They suffered as a result of an LTTE mine explosion. The soldiers of 11th Engineering Regiment of Sri Lanka Engineers who were on mine clearing operations took time off to remove the two injured cows from the scene and Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps treated the cows with much patience.
