  • 56 Army Built New Houses Provided to Displaced People


    Fifty-six families who have hitherto lived in the IDP centre at Kiliweddi on Wednesday (25) after their displacement in the south of Sampoor, took charge of their new houses, built by Army soldiers at Seedanaveli, Muttur under the government’s ‘Negenahira Navodaya’ development programme.

  • Visiting Indian Army Volleyball Team Beats SL Army Players


    The second friendly Volleyball match played between teams of Sri Lanka Army and the visiting Indian Army Saturday (28) evening at Kahawatta public grounds offered a marginal victory to the Indian Army’s Volleyball team 5-3 points after a close tussle. However Thursday’s (26) match at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo brought victory to the Sri Lankan Army team (3-2) points.....

  • Historic Visit of Nigerian NDC Delegation to SL Army Hqrs Promotes Greater Cooperation


    A 20-member delegation from Nigeria’s National Defence College (NDC), the highest military institution for training of senior military officers in Nigeria, now in Sri Lanka on a goodwill familiarization tour for the first time in the history of both Nigerian and Sri Lankan armed forces, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Monday (30) morning at his office at Army Headquarters.
     
  • VIR Troops Add Grandeur and Dignity to Its Headquarters


    The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Headquarters at Boyagane, Kurunegala, added further grandeur and dignity to its premises on Tuesday (24) when the troops invited the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya to ceremonially open their newly-built archway at the entrance to the VIR Headquarters.     Commencing the formal War Heroes’ Commemoration (Ranaviru) month, the symbolic Ranaviru flag was presented to HE, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa Monday (30) morning during a brief ceremony at Temple Trees.
