  • Sri Lankan Army Chief Promoting Goodwill Meets Bangladesh's Chief of Army Staff


    Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, now in Bangladesh on a formal six-day visit, promoting bilateral understanding and reciprocal commitments, called at the Bangladesh Armed Forces Headquarters at Senakunja in the Dhaka Cantonment on Wednesday (11) and met his hosting counterpart, General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen ndc psc, Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff (CAS).
  • Major General De Silva Replaces Major General Nandana Udawatta as Commander, SFHQ-KLN


    Major General A.W.J.C. de Silva on Wednesday (11) assumed office as the new Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) during a brief religious ceremony. His predecessor, Major General Nandana Udawatta after his one-year tenure of office, in which he managed to convert the SFHQ-KLN to be a well-equipped military camp within a period of several months.....
     
  • Commander & Delegation Visit Infantry Brigade in Rangamati

    The visiting Sri Lanka’s Army Chief and his delegation on Friday (13) toured away from Dhaka and visited the Infantry Brigade Headquarters (305) at Rangamati. The Brigade Headquarters, situated in close proximity to the picturesque  Kaptai Lake, one of the Bangladesh’s natural beauties welcomed the Sri Lanka Army Chief and his spouse warmly. Brigadier Shams after receipt of the delegation ushered them to his office for a cordial meeting. The end of the brief meeting saw exchange of mementoes as symbols of memories. Brigadier Shams before the delegation’s exit from the place invited Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya to place his signature in the VIP book at his Brigade Headquarters. As an addition to the day’s programme the visiting Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and other delegates visited a Buddhist Temple in Rangamati and made offerings. The visiting Commander exchanged a few words with the abbot of the temple before they left the place.......
  • SFHQ South Rehabilitates Panagoda Cantonment Road Network

     
    A three-kilometer long stretch of the relatively damaged of the 6 km long road network at Panagoda Army Cantonment was rehabilitated and reopened for the use of soldiers recently (10) by the Commander Security Forces (South) Major General S. R. Manawaduge. The project costing Rs. 44 million was funded by the Ministry of Economic Development.

    Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner for Bangladesh Mr. W.A. Sarath K Waragoda on Saturday (14) hosted a welcome reception to the visiting Sri Lankan Army Chief and his delegation at his official residence. The Sri Lankan delegation, headed by Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army, together with his spouse, Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya President Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), were welcomed by Mr. Waragoda and his spouse on arrival at the venue.     Sri Lanka Army delegation now in Bangladesh, headed by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on Sunday (15) as the final segment of their five-day tour in that country, was conducted to have a closer look at the workings of Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT), the replica of the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) in Kukuleganga.
