  • SFHQ-C Troops Conduct Plumbing Workshop


    Security Force Headquarters Central (SFHQ-C) with the intention of promoting coordination between Army and state officials, organized a full day workshop at Diyatalawa on plumbing for caretakers of government circuit bungalows on Thursday (31).     Cricket history of the Sri Lanka Army has now entered into a new phase after Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for the first time, selected Lance Bombardier R.T Sandaruwan to be the main Scorekeeper of the ongoing Sri Lanka Vs Pakistan first Test Match, now underway in Galle.   • Wanni-Based 62 Woman Recruits Join Active Service


    A new batch of sixty two woman recruits passed out after completing the four-month long basic training at the 4 Sri Lanka Army Women Corps (SLAWC) parade square, Medawachchiya on Tuesday (5) during a colourful ceremony.   • Commander Visits New Service Headquarters Complex Nearing Completion

     
    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army Friday (8) made a surprise visit to the new Defence Headquarters complex, now nearing completion at Pelawatte, Battaramulla. Major General Udaya Nanayakkara, Director, Project Management Unit on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development, received the Commander and conducted him to the site.

  • Nation Remembers Fallen War Hero of Our Times, Lt Gen Denzil Kobbekaduwa


    The 22nd death anniversary of the legendary War Hero, Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa of the Sri Lanka Army falls today (Aug 8).  Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa, one of the finest warriors ever produced by the Army in our contemporary history, fell silent on August 8, 1992 along with a few more fellow military veterans and soldiers,Major General Wijaya Wimalarathne, Rear Admiral Mohan Jayamaha, Lieutenant Colonel H.R Stephen, Lieutenant Colonel G.H Ariyarathne, Lieutenant Colonel Y.N Palipana, Commander Asanga Lankathilaka, Lieutenant Colonel Nalin de Alwis, Lieutenant Commander C.B  Wijepura and Private W.J Wickremasinghe while they were on a military assignment in Araly Point, Kayts, Jaffna.

    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army has been invited to deliver Late General Deshamanya Dennis Perera Memorial Oration at Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), organized by Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) on Monday (11) at 6.30 p.m. Late General J.E Dennis Perera, the former Commander of the Army passed away on August 11, 2013 in Colombo at the age of 83 after an illustrious military career, having joined the then Ceylon Army on October 10, 1949, the very date of its raising and also on his 19th birthday.
