    Captain Prakash Gopalan, Defence Adviser, High Commission of India, Colombo paid a courtesy call on the newly-appointed Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C), Major General Mano Perera at Diyatalawa. A brief exchange of views on matters of bilateral importance followed afterwards.

    Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) in a bid to defuse growing tension in the East, following recent violent acts in Alutgama and Beruwala areas, met a cross section of religious, community and local leaders in the general areas of Batticaloa, Eravur and Trincomalee on Thursday (19) and appealed them to make Muslims enlightened on the rumours and pacified.
  • Annual Volleyball Tournament at SFHQ-KLN Gets Underway


    Eight civil sector volleyball teams, together with 22 Army (men) teams vied in the annual volleyball tournament, held at Kilinochchi Madya Maha Vidyalaya playground. The annual event, proposed by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), reached its apex with the finals, played on Sunday (22).

    More than 1000 members of the Army, hand in hand with municipal workers, local politicians, Police, STF and Civil Security Department personnel, are currently engaged in the Dengue prevention campaign under the Presidential Task Force in the Colombo District.     Hindu devotees on their annual ‘Paada Yathra’ pilgrimage to Kataragama across the roads, adjoining the coastal beach along the North Eastern border were provided with dinner by 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops serving the 242 Brigade of 24 Division when they reached Komari, Pottuvil on Tuesday (17) to perform rituals at Pottuvil Murugan Kovil.
