Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) in a bid to defuse growing tension in the East, following recent violent acts in Alutgama and Beruwala areas, met a cross section of religious, community and local leaders in the general areas of Batticaloa, Eravur and Trincomalee on Thursday (19) and appealed them to make Muslims enlightened on the rumours and pacified.
The military officer during those meets thanked the Muslim community for their restraint and understanding over the situation since violence does not resolve issues, if any.
Those meetings enabled the civilians to express their concerns and importance of preventive measures that should be adopted to control such emotional outbursts.
