  • COMMANDER SUSPENDS ALL FOUR SOLDIERS INVOLVED IN FATAL ROAD ACCIDENT IN POLONNARUWA


    Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army suspended the service of four soldiers, involved in the fatal road accident in Jayanthipura, Polonnaruwa which claimed the lives of two persons with immediate effect without pay. An Army truck with four soldiers collided with a car killing two persons on the spot on 21 May 2015 while it was returning after some duty commitments.
     
     
  • ARMY TROOPS TO SUPPORT MEDICAL SERVICES IN HOSPITALS


    The assistance of the Sri Lanka Army has been offered to conduct emergency skeletal services at island-wide government hospitals in response to a request, following a trade union action, staged by the minor staff working in hospitals Tuesday (26) morning.   • 'SUWASAHANA' FUND TO COVER MEDICAL BILLS OF PARENTS OF ARMY BACHELORS


    The ‘Suwasahana’ fund of the Army that came into effect with multiple benefits to Army personnel and their families, covering medical expenses of the soldier, his/her spouse and children, has now been extended to cover the parents of unmarried Army personnel, too on the directions of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva.   • Mammoth Dengue Eradication Drive Launched in Biyagama


    A mammoth Dengue eradication programme, launched this morning (26) covering 49 Grama Seva sectors of the Biyagama Divisional Secretariat areas, received the participatory support of 77 Army personnel of 6 Gemunu Watch, following a request made to the Commander of the Army by the Ministry of Defence.
     
     
  • Public Alerted to Menace of 'Drugs'


    With the coordination and support of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E), 23 Division Headquarters in Punani, 5 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps Headquarters in Habarana and 24 Division Headquarters in Ampara organized a series of preventive and awareness programmes on ‘Drugs’ during the past two weeks.

    25 offices and 120 other rankers of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) during a special ceremony at its MIR Regimental Centre, Kekirawa, were recently awarded Regimental Badges by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR.
     
     
  • Colombo Donors Offer Ready-made Clothes & Toys


    Troops of the 651 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) distributed ready-made clothes and toys, worth of Rs. 50,000/=, donated by philanthropists from Colombo area among 20 low-income families in Jayapuram, Thunukkai area on Saturday (23). In the meantime, 11 (V) Gajaba Regiment troops provided refreshments to 60 children and elders who attended the above ceremony to receive their gift parcels.
