The 46th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army Major General N.A.J.C Dias WWV RWP RSP USP ndc, assumed duties on Friday (15) morning in a simple ceremony at the Army Headquarters. A brief religious ceremony invoked blessings on the new appointment before Major General Dias formally signed a document to signify the acceptance of the new office as the clock struck 8.43 a.m. this morning (15). 
Army personnel of the 18 Sri Lanka National Guards (SLNG) under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) practised the Buddhist virtues of donating by organizing soup and Belimal ‘Dansels’ at the 12 Divisional premises during May 3 -5. The free eatery attracted many Vesak sight-seers and poor families who came there to see Vesak decorations on account of the Vesak commemoration. The Dansela was organized as a gesture of goodwill.

The new 53 Division Headquarters complex, established in Inamaluwa, Dambulla was ceremonially opened this morning (15) by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva at the invitation of Major General Maithri Dias, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 53 Division. The two-storied new complex consists of Administrative Section, Officer Accommodation, and Logistic Branches also has a separate mess for Warrant Officers and Sergeants.
