  • Sri Lankan Relief Contingent in Nepal Returns Home to a Warm Welcome


    Having kept the Sri Lankan National Flag flying nearly for 16 days while showing earthquake-affected Nepalese that ‘We are also concerned as part of the relief solution to them’, the Sri Lankan tri-service rescue and relief contingent, returned home Monday (11) evening to a warm welcome at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

  • Indian Army Gifts Horses to SLMA for Training


    Symbolizing the continuing goodwill and cooperation between the Indian Army and the Sri Lanka Army, Colombo-based High Commission of India on Tuesday (12), gifted six horses of high breed to Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) for training purposes during a simple ceremony at the SLMA premises.
     
  • Pakistan Army Chief Arrives in Sri Lanka on Goodwill Visit

     
    Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Pakistan Army General Raheel Sharif,  NI (M), heralding a new era of goodwill, understanding and military co-operation, arrives in Sri Lanka Wednesday (13) evening at the invitation of his Sri Lanka’s counterpart, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva. During his five-day long stay, General Raheel Sharif is expected to pay courtesy calls on HE the President Maithripala Sirisena, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Prime Minister, Hon. State Minister of Defence, Secretary to Ministry of Defence, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Navy and Air Force and visit several military establishments, Kandy, Galle, Diyatalawa, and Nuwara Eliya areas as parts of his itinerary in the island.
     
  • Pakistan Army Chief's Visit to Sri Lanka Postponed


    The scheduled Sri Lanka’s visit of Pakistan Chief of the Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif, NI (M), has been put off due to unavoidable circumstances, until further notice. General Raheel Sharif ,COAS of Pakistan Army at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva was earlier expected to arrive in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (13) afternoon.

  • SLE Wins Inter Regiment Carrom Tournament


    The 2nd Inter Regiment Carrom Tournament, organized by the Army Carrom Committee, was held at the Field Engineers Camp, Mattegoda during May 6-8. Teams representing 14 Regiments participated in the tournament. The finals and the awards ceremony of the tournament was held on 08 May. Major General L.N. Wickramasooriya, Chairman, Army Carrom Committee graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. 

  • 611 Brigade Organizes 'Dansela' for Vesak


    Army personnel of the 611 Brigade, together with the 25 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and the 9 Sri Lanka  (SLSR) battalions under the 61 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), shared Buddhist virtues of generosity opening a fried rice ‘Dansela’ at Brigade Headquarters area on 04 May on account of Vesak Poya Day.
