  • SFHQ-E Launches 2nd IT Course for Troops


    The second phase of the Basic Computer Course for Army personnel serving the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) began on Wednesday (28). The course initiated under the directions of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E aims to improve IT knowledge of the troops. Like in the first course, Orient Academy (Pvt) Ltd has given its support for the conduct of the course.
     
  • Troops Conduct More Community Projects in SFHQ-East area


    Troops serving under the Security Force Headquaters East (SFHQ-EAST) performed several community projects including a Dengue Prevention Programme, ‘Shramadana’ campaign and the distribution of school occasions. To eradicate the menace of Dengue, 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (8 SLNG) troops located at Periyawadduwan conducted a Dengue Prevention Programme together with villagers at Yodiyankattu Village, Koraleipattu on Monday (26).
     
  • Mullaittivu Woman Soldiers Shine in Karate Tournament


    Three woman soldiers who recently joined the Army from Mullaittivu area have done exceptionally well in the recent Northern Province Karate Tournament while still undergoing Army training in Recruit Course. These woman soldiers, Private S. Nandini, Private S. Shivaneshwari and Private P. Kesia of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) secured 2nd place in the Karate Tournament (Katha style), 2nd place in the Shotokan style and the 2nd place in the Shotokan style under 50 kg categories respectively.
  • 37 Tamil Tradesmen from Puthukkudiyirippu Join Army Service Regiments


    Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) under its ongoing ‘Api Army’ recruitment programme of tradesmen and professionals, went to Mullaitivu on Saturday (31) and selected 37 youths for employment in the Army. The interviews held at Puthukkudiyirippu Divisional Secretariat attracted 44 job seekers on that day but only 37 were qualified to seek employment with the Army considering their merits.

  • SFHQ - C Assists Conduct of Medical Camp


    Sri Lanka Army troops serving the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ - C) assisted the conduct of a mobile medical clinic at Diyatalawa, Koslanda Maha Vidyalaya on Saturday (31). The free clinic attended by medical specialists has been coordinated by ‘Tharunyayata Hetak’ organization. On the directions of Major General A.M Perera, Commander, SFHQ - C, troops assisted the conduct of it which drew more than 1200 sick civilians, expecting medical consultations.
  • Hardworking Army Officers Meditate & Seek Mental Balance


    The programme that has been devised by Directorate of Psychological Operations at Army Headquarters to elevate the spiritual standards as well as mental peace in the minds of hardworking service officers and other ranks, had one more session of meditation at Kanduboda, Siyane International Vipassana Bhavana Centre on Tuesday (27).
     
  • Experience East Coast with New Experience 'Commando 4 x 4'


    A hitherto unheard and a thrilling expedition, ‘Commando 4 x 4’ under the proud project, ‘Experience Sri Lanka with Commandos’ of Commando Regiment (CR), is to get underway for six days beginning Aug 4 and covering the entire Eastern coastal belt of the country, a Media briefing organized by the Commando Regiment at Nelum Pokuna was told Monday (2) evening.
     
  • SFHQ-West Troops Clean Army Cantonment Residential Quarters Premises


    Under the close supervision and guidance of Major General U.A.B Medawela, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West), troops of all Divisions, Brigades and Units, conducted a full day Dengue eradication programme inside Panagoda Army Cantonment residential quarters and the entire premises during a Shramadana campaign on Monday (2). 
  • Major General Ambanpola, New Deputy Chief of Staff


    Major General EMM Ambanpola USP, new Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army assumed duties on Monday, 02 June 2014 during a simple ceremony at his office at the Army Headquarters. A brief religious ceremony, headed by Ven Dodangoda Assaji Thero invoked blessings on Major General Mahinda Ambanpola and his office soon after he lit the traditional oil lamp upon his arrival at the office.
  • Defence Advisor of the High Commission of India Calls On Commander SFHQ-West


    Defence Advisor to High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, Captain Prakash Gopalan (Indian Navy) paid a courtesy call on Major General U.A.B Medawela Commander, Security Force Headquarters West (SFHQ-West) at Panagoda on Tuesday (3). The cordial discussion between the Commander SFHQ-West and the visitor ended in exchange of mementoes.
