  • 542 Brigade to Move Into New Building Complex


    542 Brigade Headquarters in Manthottam, Mannar is in the process of completing its new building complex using pre-fabricated technology in the first floor of the construction underway. Being the first of its kind built on a first floor, this complex houses the library, TV room, café, mess hall for other ranks, recreation club for non-commissioned officers and a few other units.

  • Government of Pakistan Honours Former Commander Gen. Srilal Weerasooriya


    The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association (SLFPA) in collaboration with Pakistan High Commission held a felicitation dinner to honour SLFPA’s Immediate Past President, General Srilal Weerasooriya in recognition of the conferment of high civil award on him by the Government of Pakistan. The Ex-Army Commander and Sri Lanka’s Former High Commissioner to Pakistan, General (R) C. S. Weerasooriya RWP RSP VSV USP, was decorated with Sitara-i-Pakistan on the National Day of Pakistan at Aiwan e Sadar Islamabad, by President Mamnoon Hussain.

  • Military Tells Other Countries to Follow Malaysia's Example


    Terrorism could be wiped out from the face of the earth if all countries emulated Malaysia’s example and cooperated for that purpose, Military spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya told the media yesterday (28). He thanked Malaysia for arresting the LTTE cadres operating on its soil. The military spokesman requested other countries to help Sri Lanka arrest LTTE cadres.
