  • Landmark in Army History: New Army Hospital with 1024 Beds Gifted to War Heroes



    Monday (May 5) morning’s auspicious 10.05 marked yet another watershed in the annals of Sri Lanka Army and its Sri Lanka Medical Corps (SLMC) when HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, vested the 10-storied state-of-the art new Army Hospital at Narahenpita, Colombo 5 in soldiers as a monumental gift, awarded in the ongoing Ranaviru (War Hero) Commemorative month which has just begun.

  • A Joint Search for Arrest of Suspects Continues in Ichchalanpattai


    A joint investigation launched by Army-Navy and the Police in the general area of Ichchalanpattai, Trincomalee is now underway to apprehend suspects following the recovery of a bag containing a T-56 weapon with ammunition at Lanka Patuna beach near a Naval detachment on Monday (5).   • Medical Clinic Treats More Than 225 Civilians in Puthumattalan


    More than 225 civilians attended a mobile medical clinic organized at Puthumattalan Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School on Saturday (3). Initiated by 68 Division Headquarters commanded by Brigadier T.J Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding, a team of 8 doctors with 17 pharmacists, headed by Dr Anula Wijesundara, Consultant Physician, examined more than 225 patients and prescribed medicine to them.
  • Lectures on Drugs Conducted in Mullaittivu


    Two workshops on ‘Drugs Addiction and Prevention from Drugs’ organized by the Directorate of Psychological Operations with the cooperation of National Dangerous Drugs Control Board took place at the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) and the 68 Division premises during the first week of May.
  • One More Meditation Training Programme Held


    The 30th phase of the meditation programmes, organized for Army personnel at Kanduboda Siyane International Vipassana Meditation Centre was launched for 128 senior non-commissioned officers of the tri-services last week. The one-day meditation programme helped these attendees relieve of mental stress, psychological worries and promote mental and spiritual development.
