The 1 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (1 SLAWC) celebrated its 45th Anniversary on 1 September 2024, amidst military formalities, under the guidance of Major E.M.H.C De Seram psc, the Commanding Officer of 1 SLAWC.

The Gajaba Regiment (GR) celebrated its 41st anniversary at the "Home of Keterians" in Saliyapura, Anuradhapura, with a series of events from 13 - 14 October 2024.

Colonel Kedar Dattatraya Gupte, Directing Staff at College of Defence Management (CDM) in India (Head of the Delegation) along with Gp Captain Dipendra Bhadoria, Colonel Kunal Ramesh Lonari, and Lieutenant Colonel Mandeep Singh Negi met Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army at the Army Headquarters on 14 October 2024.

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Defence and the instructions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Sri Lanka Army has deployed troops to assist people affected by the ongoing adverse weather conditions. The overflowing of rivers has resulted in widespread flooding across the island, prompting immediate action to provide much-needed relief and support to those impacted by this disaster. In line with these efforts, the Commander of the Army has instructed the Commander of 1 Corps and all Security Forces Commanders to increase the number of troops involved in rescue and relief operations.
