52 Infantry Division Conducts Blood Donation Campaign

A special commemorative stamp was issued on Thursday (10) by the Philatelic Bureau of the Postal Department on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army. The event, held at Army Headquarters, was graced by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, as the Chief Guest. This event followed the main segment that took place at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Army Cantonment in Panagoda.

The 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops erected a new house for a needy family in Kuttiwila, Kirindiwela area with sponsorship provided by philanthropists. The new house was vested in the beneficiary on 09 October 2024 during a brief ceremony.

In line with the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, troops of the Regimental Centre SF successfully completed the construction of a bus halt in Koholanwala area near the A9 road on 09 October 2024.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 11 Infantry Division, Major General K.A.U Kodithuwakku RSP USP psc IG, visited the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) on 02 October 2024.

Under the guidance of Major General K.A.U. Kodithuwakku RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of the 11 Infantry Division, troops conducted multiple cleaning programmes in line with the 75th Army Anniversary.

Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces - West (SF - West), awarded certificates of commendation to an Officer and four Other Ranks from the 3 (V) Gemunu Watch on 02 October 2024 at Security Forces Headquarters (West). The recognition was for their heroic act in rescuing an individual from a suicide attempt in the Nilwala River on 30 September 2024.

In celebration of World Children’s Day under the theme “Let’s Protect Children – Treat Them Equally,” a special event was held for children at Viru Kekulu Pre School, Panagoda, at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Auditorium on 1 October 2024. The event was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Surangi Amarapala, the Lady in Charge of the preschool, and Major General A.H.L.G. Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander of the Security Forces (West).

Coinciding with the 75th Army Anniversary, troops of the Gajaba Regiment (GR) provided a nutritious lunch for children at Sathuta Children’s Home in Saliyapura on 04 October 2024.

In his 75th Army Day message, the Commander of the Army states that Sri Lankan soldiers should be professional and agile in safeguarding the nation while actively contributing to strengthen reconciliation measures and preserving the economic, social, and cultural values of the country.
