Major General C. D. Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc, received the symbol of authority and best wishes from Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army, during a formal courtesy call held on 03 February 2026 at the Army Headquarters.

In line with the 78th Independence Day celebrations on 04 February 2026, the Sri Lanka Army promoted a total of 9158 Other Ranks from both the Regular and Volunteer Forces to their respective next ranks.

The Pre-deployment Training for Level II Hospital in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) No 13 was successfully concluded on 30 January 2026 at the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL).

A Dhamma Sermon was held at the Multifunction Hall of Abhimansala 2, Kaburupitiya, on 18 January 2026, under the guidance of Brigadier G.G.R. Madhugoda USP, Commandant of Abhimansala 2.

The dedicated and timely efforts of the troops of 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (6 SLSR) and 14 Sri Lanka National Guard (14 SLNG) under 553 Infantry Brigade were formally honoured at a special appreciation ceremony, organised by the District Secretariat, Kilinochchi, on 29 January 2026 at the Headquarters of the 553 Infantry Brigade.

The Directorate of Internal Audit conducted a two-day Strategic Capacity-Building Training Programme titled “Empowering Internal Oversight through Strategic Training Initiatives” for all ranks of the Directorate, from 22 to 23 January 2026 at the Army Headquarters.

The troops of 51 Infantry Division and 5th Regiment of Engineer Service Regiment constructed and handed over a two-storey school building for the students of American Mission Tamil Mixed (AMTM) College, Jaffna, on 30 January 2026.

The Inter Regiment Football Tournament was successfully conducted on 31 January 2026 at the Rugger Ground, Panagoda. The event was graced by Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, as the Chief Guest.

An awareness programme on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was successfully conducted on 30 January 2026 at the Auditorium of Security Force Headquarters (East) under the “Healthy Army – Healthy Nation” initiative.
