Lecture on NCDs Successfully Conducted by SFHQ (East)

An awareness programme on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was successfully conducted on 30 January 2026 at the Auditorium of Security Force Headquarters (East) under the “Healthy Army - Healthy Nation” initiative.

The programme was organised as the fourth phase of a pilot project aimed at identifying Sri Lanka Army personnel at risk of NCDs and directing them towards early intervention and specialist medical care.

The lecture targeted Senior Officers with approximately five years of remaining service prior to retirement, Commanding Officers and Second-in-Commands of units, as well as personnel over 30 years of age who are at a higher risk due to conditions such as high blood pressure, elevated blood glucose levels, high cholesterol, increased Body Mass Index (BMI), and a family history of chronic diseases.

Brigadier A.S.M. Wijewardana (Retd) USP and Brigadier R.M.M. Monaragala USP, Senior Consultant Medical Specialists, delivered informative lectures focusing on maintaining youthfulness and longevity, stress management for healthy living, health promotion for NCD prevention, food and nutrition, and structured physical exercise programmes.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the lecture.
