The Inter Regiment Football Tournament was successfully conducted on 31 January 2026 at the Rugger Ground, Panagoda.
The event was graced by Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, as the Chief Guest.
Upon his arrival, the Army Chief was warmly received by Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, together with Major General K.J.N.M.P.K. Nawarathna RWP RSP ndu, Director General Infantry and Chairman of the Army Football Committee, and Brigadier K.A.D.C.R. Kannangara RSP ndc, Director of Sports.
Seventeen Regimental football teams competed at Regimental level, leading up to the final encounter between the Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) and the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC), which kicked off amidst cheers and applause.
During tournament, SLAGSC emerged as Champions, while MIC secured the Runners-up position.
Thereafter, the Commander of the Army presented trophies and certificates to Lance Corporal C.D.I. Fernando of SLAGSC as the Best Goalkeeper, Lance Corporal N.M. Aflal of SLAGSC as the Highest Goal Scorer and Private A.T.C. Fayas of SLAGSC as the Best Player.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
