In line with the national dengue prevention initiative “A Quiet City a Healthy Life”, dengue prevention programmes were conducted in 56 Infantry Division area from 07 to 09 January 2026, under the guidance of the Directors of Health Services and in coordination with relevant government authorities.
A programme to distribute school items to students affected by the recent disaster was conducted on 09 January 2026. Accordingly, 425 school bags along with other essential school items were distributed among all students of Kaduwela Ranala Model Primary School.
The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers conducted a cash donation programme in support of Ditwa-affected officers, other ranks and civil servants on 11 January 2026 at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
A school supplies donation programme was successfully conducted on 04 January 2026 at Ashoka Junior School, Thantirimale, for the benefit of the students of Ashoka Junior School, Anuradhapura and the children of the Siyambalagasswewa Preschool.
Major General W.B.M.K.G.K. Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP AUSWC psc assumed duties as the 34th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 22 Infantry Division on 05 January 2026 at the Division Headquarters, Trincomalee.
Major General G.D.J.C. Prematilaka USP ndc psc assumed duties as the 07th Director General Research, Concept and Doctrine of the Sri Lanka Army on 07 January 2026 at the Directorate premises.
General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army, along with his spouse, Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi concluded their official visit to Sri Lanka, which commenced on 06 January 2026. The visit marked a significant step towards further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.
