  • Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Army Commander to Deliver Late General Deshamanya Dennis Perera Memorial Oration

    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army has been invited to deliver Late General Deshamanya Dennis Perera Memorial Oration at Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), organized by Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) on Monday (11) at 6.30 p.m. Late General J.E Dennis Perera, the former Commander of the Army passed away on August 11, 2013 in Colombo at the age of 83 after an illustrious military career, having joined the then Ceylon Army on October 10, 1949, the very date of its raising and also on his 19th birthday.
  • 523 Brigade Marks Poson Festival

    Soldiers serving 523 Brigade in 52 Division under Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) organized a mega Poson Zone with the co-operation of Sasun Senasuna Foundation of Boralesgamuwa at Chavakachcheri court complex during June 23 - 24 to mark the Poson festival. Under the same programme soldiers organized a mammoth Dansela in Nunavil area.....

    THE inaugural announcement in connection with the forthcoming Army 60th Anniversary celebrations on the theme “Victory Through Commitment, Dedication, Sacrifice & Professionalism” was made this morning (18) at Army Headquarters by Chief of Staff Major General Mendaka Samarasinghe and the Steering Committee of the 60th Anniversary Celebrations.  Major General Samarasinghe who is also the Chairman, Steering Committee of the 60th Anniversary Celebrations briefed the media on the sequence of elaborate and multifarious    arrangements in progress giving.....

  • SLC Selected Fast Bowlers to be Absorbed into Army Cricket Pool

    The Inter Battalion Softball 20/20 Cricket Tournament, intended to further promote cricket among Army personnel and identify budding cricketers, got off the ground beginning September 23 at respective Security Force Headquarters (SFHQs) levels with the coordination of Army Cricket Committee. Sri Lanka Cricket offered its assistance for promotion of the game at Wanni (Sept 23), Mullaittivu (Sept 24), Kilinochchi (Sept 25) and Jaffna (Sept 26) by sending its fast ball trainer, Mr Ravindra Pushpakumara.

  • 12 Division Troops Educated on Forest and Animal Protection

    Troops of 12 Division under the Security Force Headquarters Central (SF HQ –Cen) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Forest Department recently conducted a programme to educate troops on wildlife and forest conservation. More than 100 troops who are serving near forest and wildlife reserves were educated on the policy and legislation on forest and wildlife reserves.....
