  • Three Tiger Infiltrators Shot Dead

    VAVUNIYA: THREE LTTE terrorists who had infiltrated the area west of OMANTHAI were shot dead by the alert troops serving in the area Sunday morning (19) around 6.00 a.m. Later troops recovered the three LTTE dead bodies, two T-56 weapons, one I-com set, three T-56 magazines, three hundred and forty-two rounds of T-56 ammunition, forty-two Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunitions, six hand grenades, two silver compass, one laser range finder, one Global Processing System (GPS), two cyanide capsules, one VAVUNIYA colour maps and two LTTE packs from the area.

  • LTTE's 152 mm Artillery Gun Found

    MULLAITTIVU: CONTINUOUS search operations being conducted in the general area of VISUAMADU recovered many LTTE items in the recent past.  During the latest search operations in the north of VISUAMADU on Sunday (19) troops found a 152 mm artillery gun. At the time of recovery, it has been slightly damaged due to attacks launched by the troops during previous confrontations. 

  • Record 5000 Civilians Escape into Government Held Area

    MULLAITTIVU: A RECORD five thousand besieged civilians in the PUTHUMATHALAN “No Fire Zone” exited from the grip of LTTE terrorism and escaped into troop-held areas in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU early this morning (20) as this report was pasted. Ground troops in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU confirmed a huge exodus of people was still on the way. Most of them made their way across the lagoon area.   

  • TIGERS FIRE ARTILLERY AGAINST FLEEING CIVILIANS

    MULLAITTIVU: TROOPS entered the “No Fire Zone” after destroying the LTTE built earth bund with a view to preventing the civilian exodus into cleared areas and it enabled more than five thousand trapped civilians to show up at PUTHUKUDIRIPPU early this morning (20).  As the rescue operation continued piercing the earth bund, Tiger terrorists as usual started firing artillery and mortars from the inside of the “No Fire Zone” towards the fleeing civilians.

  • Many More LTTE Arms & Ammo Collected

    MALLAITTIVU & KILINOCHCHI: ARMY troops continued their search and clear operations in the newly captured areas on Sunday (19). During those search and clear operations in the general areas of VISUAMADU, SINNAVILLU, PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU East and MUDALYARKULAM, troops recovered seventy-eight hand grenades, fourteen T-56 weapons, six T-56 magazines, four thousand seven hundred and fifty rounds of T-56 ammunition, five thousand rounds of Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, sixteen 60 mm mortar bombs, one  trapped gun, one shot gun,.....

  • THE MOMENT OF TRUTH HAS DAWNED; 19,000 TRAPPED CIVILIANS BRAVE TO ENTER TROOP-HELD AREAS

    MULLATTIVU: AT least seventeen trapped civilians in the PUTHUMATHALAN “No Fire Zone” (NFZ) were killed and over two hundred injured when three LTTE suicide bombers rammed into civilian gatherings and blew themselves up inside the NFZ Monday (20) between 9.00 a.m.-1.00 p.m. Tiger terrorists turned awfully wild and hysterical by Monday (20) early hours as the numbers of civilians deserting them and entering cleared areas swelled almost hour by hour beginning the wee small hours on Monday (20) while bringing the total number that has so far reported to the cleared areas rose to almost 19,000.

  • SLAF HELICOPTERS LAND & AIRLIFT LTTE INJURED CIVILIANS

    MULLATTIVU: SRI Lanka Air Force helicopters, irrespective of the risks involved in the decision, flew into the “No Fire Zone” itself Monday (20) afternoon and rescued as many as two hundred LTTE injured Tamil civilians who were fleeing from the LTTE grip. Air Force helicopters have by 16.00 hours (local time) Monday (20) brought down as many as some two hundred badly injured civilians after they were fired upon by terrorists while escaping the LTTE grip.

    THE majority of Sri Lankans are heaving a sigh of relief now that the President has been finally able to bring Prabarakaran to his knees, due to the bravery and sacrifice of our soldiers under the astute guidance of the Defence Secretary and Service Chiefs. While showering these individuals with praise, which they richly deserve, we should not forget the services of people like the late Mr. Lakshman Kadiragamar, Mr.Dayan Jayatilleke, Prof.Rajeeva Wijesinghe, Mr. S.L. Gunasekera, Mr. Gomin Dayasiri and numerous others who were instrumental in exposing to the world Prabakaran and his organization for what they really are. They had the courage and conviction to take on the "arm chair"....

    MULLAITTIVU: PANDEMONIUM has broken out in the PUTHUMATHALAN “No Fire Zone” (NFZ) Monday (20) afternoon as a gathering of some 5,000 or more trapped civilians defied LTTE threats, braved to cross two more LTTE built earth bunds. Those fleeing civilians have been challenged, confronted and surrounded by gun-trotting Tigers inside the NFZ on their way but resisting civilians have gone on arguing against their detention by the LTTE. Heated arguments have prompted Tigers to react to the chaos by firing at them.
