  • 19 VIR Officers & Soldiers Buy Garments for Andamkulam Villagers

    Officers and soldiers joined together and bought a stock of readymade clothes for distribution among 22 selected families living in Andamkulam village under the 543 Brigade Headquarters area. On May 17, both officers and soldiers of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) serving the area distributed those packets of readymade clothes among those villagers who are affected with economic hardships.

    More than 3000 sports-loving officers and other ranks in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) vied with each other in the finals of the Inter Regiment Athletic Championship Tournament, held during July 15-17 at Colombo Sugathadasa Stadium.   • Vavnathivu Parameshwari School Receives TV Set

    THE Civil Coordinating office in Batticaloa-based 234 Brigade Headquarters with the support it received from philanthropists in Ganemulla area donated a TV and sports accessories to Vavunathivu Parameshwari Vidyalaya in Batticaloa as a token of goodwill. The donation included a colour TV set with the antenna and its cable, six cricket bats, six tennis balls, school bags for seventy-five students, donation of a set of six exercise books to each 180 students and a stock of pens, pencils and water colour boxes.
