  • New Wanni Commander Assumes Office


    Major General M.H.S.B Perera assumed office as the new Commander, Security Forces Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) during a simple ceremony on Saturday (25). He succeeds Major General A.K.S Perera who is scheduled to leave shortly for overseas training.  Major General Perera upon arrival at the SFHQ-W premises was greeted with a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour, presented by the troops of the SFHQ-W before religious observances of all faiths invoked blessings.....
  • Amidst Military Honours New SLAVF Commander Assumes Office


    Major General A.W.J.C De Silva, former Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi recently, assumed duties as Commander, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) during a ceremony. In conformity with military traditions, the new Commander, SLAVF upon arrival at Kosgama SLAVF Headquarters premises was accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour before he was conducted to his office. Major General Silva after lighting the auspicious traditional oil lamp participated in religious observances, followed by chanting of Seth Pirith. Members of the Maha Sangha blessed the new appointment after a brief Anusasana (oration).

    General Liang Guanglie, State Councillor and Minister of National Defence of People’s Republic of China (PRC), currently in Sri Lanka met his host, Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development Friday (31) afternoon for formal talks, during which China pledged a grant of Chinese Yuan 75 million (about Rs 1564 million) towards construction of a state-of-the-art new auditorium complex at Sri Lanka Military Academy.....
