  • Taekwondo Training to Take Root in Jaffna

     
    Introduction of Taekwondo as a martial art to Jaffna youths took place at the Duraiappah stadium last Sunday (14) with the support of Army Taekwondo Association and Korean Taekwondo instructors. A large crowd of school children, Mayoress for Jaffna Mrs Y.Pathgunarasa, Additional Director of Provincial Education Mr V.T Selvarathnam and Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna, the Chief Guest on the occasion witnessed the display of the introducing team.
     
  • Forces in Awareness Campaign on Monster Myth


    The Vanni Security Forces Head Quarters has conducted over 400 sessions to educate villagers regarding the myth of the ‘Grease Monster’ to make them vigilant to the threats that could be leveled by criminals exploiting the situation. These sessions were held covering most of the villages in Vavuniya, Mannar, Weli Oya and Anuradhapura with the support of Civil Committees.

    Baseless allegations are levelled against Sri Lanka continuously and the government responded to them as they have a hidden agenda, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said yesterday. The Defence Secretary made this observation as chief guest at a ceremony to launch the website of Strategic Initiatives for the Protection of Sri Lanka (SIPOS) (www.outofwar.com) at the BMICH yesterday. He said that the accusers were fully aware of the genuine scenario and they yet level charges since their aim is to achieve their ends.

The ‘Searchlight Tattoo’ was declared open to the public by Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army who graced the inauguration as Chief Guest. The ‘Searchlight Tattoo’ will continue till Sunday (21) evening.
