  • Japan-Lanka Friendship Assn Repeats Its Goodwill Gestures for Army

     
    Further cementing long-lasting bonds of goodwill and bilateral cooperation, the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Association (JSLFA) once again donated two more ambulances and a fire engine for Army use Monday (25) morning during a brief ceremony at Army Headquarters. A 36-member Japanese delegation, comprised of members of the Nakatsugawa Rotary Club and the JSLFA, now in Sri Lanka on a week-long tour, visited the Army Headquarters to represent the donation ceremony this morning.
     
  • President Inspects 'Ranaviru Seya' Worksite at Anuradhapura

    HE the President Mahinda Rajapakse after the inaugural opening of the Anuradhapura ‘Abimansala’, the Wellness Resort for permanently disable dependent War Heroes on Tuesday (26) made his way for the construction site of the ‘Ranaviru Maha Seya’ in the sacred city in the company of distinguished invitees and the Commander of the Army.
  • Soldiers Build Houses for the Populace in Kilinochchi

    A housing project to construct houses for 100 selected families in Anavilandankulam area in Kilinochchi was inaugurated by the Sri Lanka Army’s 652 Brigade Commander last Saturday (16). The project which provides better shelter for the newly resettled population in the north is a brain child of Hon Mr. Namal Rajapaksa MP.

  • Army Organizes Scholarship for Northern Students Through Taiwan Charity Organization

     
    A Scholarship awarding ceremony for ten selected students was held at Pandiyankulam MV School in Pandiyankulam, Mankulam in Mulaitivu District last Monday (25). Scholarships coordinated by the 612 Brigade were donated by the Dharma Drum Mountain Welfare and Charity Foundation of Taiwan. Apart from the cheques worth Rs.10,000/= each handed over to the ten students.....
     
  • Army Rugby Receives Fillip from Milco Company

    Army Rugby received a welcome fillip on Friday (29) when Milco Company Limited as an organization that generally lends its helping hand for promotion of sports in Sri Lanka, offered year-round sponsorship assistance to the Army Rugby team. This goodwill gesture of sponsorship was symbolically handed over to the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya this morning (29) by Mr Sunil Wickramasinghe.....

    A 161-page Ministry of Defence (MoD), initiated report, ‘Humanitarian Operation-Factual Analysis’ that tabulated all the details, pertaining to ground realities during tri-service headed Wanni humanitarian mission, was formally released Monday (1)  morning at a ceremony in Colombo Hilton Hotel. The report, a unified move by Army, Navy, Air Force, Police personnel and other state agencies, adequately details how the LTTE grew up to be one of world’s most-feared and ruthless military outfits with its own sea and air wing.....

    The state of the art, ‘Abimansala’ (wellness resort), on the banks of the ancient Nuwara Wewa in Anuradhapura, exclusively designed to house dependent Army War Heroes for the rest of their life-span, was ceremonially vested in disable warriors by His Excellency, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning (26) at the request of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
  • Maiden Package Tour of War Hero Family Members to Dambadiva Ready

    The Army-managed Air Travel Services (Pvt) Ltd, now fully operational with air travel ticketing to many a world-wide destination, is set to inaugurate its first package tour to the land of Buddha, Dambadiva with thirty pilgrims for the first pilgrmage. The group comprised of members of War Hero families.....
