  • Commander Presents "Grand Prix" Commercial Award to 'Triad' Team

    THE prestigious Grand Prix, recognition Award, won by Seva Vanitha Army Branch sponsored “Senehasa” fund raising project commercial during the annual “Chillies 2009” award ceremony was subsequently handed over to its inventor, “Triad” Company Ltd Thursday (7) afternoon. The commercial that depicted two houses, amalgamated to each other has been creatively done on behalf of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), following a request made by Mrs. Anoma Fonseka.

  • LTTE Supporters Attack Chinese Embassy in London

    ABOUT 150 supporters of the LTTE smashed the windows at the People Republic of China Embassy in busy Central London in Portland Place on May 6. The violent demonstrators who arrived at the embassy carrying the official separatist flag of the outfit from the Parliament square where they have been allowed to perform a 24 hour vigil unprecedentedly by the British authorities made this their third embassy attack in London having successfully demolished the windows of the Indian High Commission building and the Sri Lanka High Commission building during the last week.

  • "New Safety Zone" Restricted to 2.5 sq Km - Army

    MULLAITTIVU: SRI LANKA Army, now in full control of more than two thirds of the existing PUTHUMATTALAN “No Fire Zone”. Friday (8) afternoon officially announced the re-demarcation of the “New Safety Zone”, restricting to the strip, south of KARAYAMULLIVAIKKAL including VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL with an area of some 2  km in length and 1.5 km  in width, the Army Headquarters declared. This has been modified to match with the present situation after considering the concentration of civilians in the area. 

  • Massive Terrorist Explosives & 31 Dead Tigers Found

    MULLAITTIVU: TROOPS continuing their search and clear operations in the general areas of KARAYANMULLIVAIKKAL, VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL, UDAYARKATTUKULAM and VAVUNAVILLU Friday (8) uncovered thirty-one LTTE dead bodies, thirty-two T-56 weapons, two Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), four Multi Purpose Machine Guns (MPMG), one 12.7 weapon, one 40 mm grenade launcher, two I-com sets, two claymore mines, three T-56 magazines, two detonators and two maps.

  • Tigers Go Berserk & Fire at Escapees; Nine Dead & 19 Injured

    MULLAITTIVU: PANIC-STRICKEN Tiger terrorists Saturday (9) morning repeated their brutality in the remaining “No Fire Zone” and caused death to one more civil escapee and injured seventeen more civilians who were fleeing from LTTE grips.  Estimated 303 escapees were trying to enter troop-held areas across causeway in MULLAITTIVU when the terrorists stormed them and went on a shooting-spree to prevent them from deserting the LTTE. 

  • Commander Meets Wanni Ground Commanders

    COMMANDER of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka, along with a few Senior Officers of the Army Headquarters, flew to Vavuniya to review the latest developments of the security situation in Vanni areas. Army Commander, after being received by Commander Security Forces Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, was conducted to the SFHQ auditorium where he met senior ground commanders and discussed the present security situation in Wanni. He also issued further instructions to his ground commanders.   

  • One More Senior Sea Tiger Reported Killed

    MULLAITTIVU: LATEST information received from KARAYANMULLIVAIKKAL area confirmed that a senior LTTE terrorist was killed during confrontations that occurred when the troops captured terrorists earth-bund built in the same area on Thursday (07). The dead senior terrorist, identified as CHELIYAN was the second in command of the LTTE Sea Tiger wing, reports further confirmed. According to details available, CHELIYAN who is in his  early 30s was from TRINCOMALEE. He has led many attacks against the Sri Lanka Navy in the past and received injuries in a confrontation with the Navy on 27th March 2008.

  • Terrorists Continue to Detain Civilians; LTTE Communication Intercepted by Troops Reveals

    MULLAITTIVU: LTTE Communications intercepted by the Army on Saturday (9) 3.40 a.m. further confirmed that the LTTE is forcibly keeping civilians under their captivity leaving no room for civilians to escape from their clutches.
    However, the influx of civilians to Security-Forces held areas revealed the willingness of those civilians to leave LTTE-held areas. The following dialogue communicated between two LTTE terrorists through their communication sets was intercepted by the Army troops.

  • Tiger Spin Docs Create Casualty Figures to Mislead UN - Defence Secretary

    THE LTTE now on the verge of collapse on the Mullaitivu front has accused the army of killing over 2,000 civilians in an artillery barrage over the weekend. Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa denied the accusation. In a brief interview with The Island, he pointed out that the LTTE had timed the latest propaganda lie for an informal session of the UN Security Council scheduled for today (May 11). He said that the LTTE was making a desperate attempt to force the international community to stop the offensive.
