  • Tamil & Muslim Students Receive Medical Consultations


    234 Tamil and Muslim students, 15 parents and 15 teachers from Mullaittivu area recently received consultations from a medical clinic, organized by the 68 Division Headquarters. The clinic including dental consultations at Kaiveli Ganeshan Vidyalaya and Kombavil Vigneshwaram Vidyalaya, treated over 390 students and adults, including parents, following sponsorship provided by the Preedstore organization.

    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, on learning that the student, Kavindya Gimhani, the daughter of Army Warrant Officer-I, Nilmini  Priyangika Kumari  of 3 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps and  the Warrant Officer-II, M. M. Mahinda of 4 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, has scored the highest marks for the second place at the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination.....

  • Army Coordinates Distribution of Spectacles to Wanni Civilians


    Troops serving the 211 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) with the financial support of Cosmopolitan 306/A2 Lions Club, Colombo 6, distributed 90 pairs of spectacles worth about Rs 225,000/= among villagers in Pulithirikthapuliyankulam and 400 Acres LB village of Vavuniya.   The distribution took place at Pulithirikthapuliyankulam Vidyalaya and Periyaulukkulam 400 Acres Dharmapala Vidyalaya on 28 Sept.

    Lighting the oil lamp of the most sacred Dawatagaha Jumma Masjid Mosque at Colombo Town Hall junction and garlanding the holy place, Ziharath of Sheik Usman Valiyullah in the shrine, in keeping with Islamic traditions, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, together with a host of officers and other ranks, joined prayer sessions to receive blessings on the Army’s forthcoming 64th Anniversary and Army Day (Oct 10) on Thursday (3) evening.
