    “Surroundings as well as the landscape in a public health institute, like the upcoming country’s second largest hospital with 1043 beds, should be of pleasing and beautiful nature to the naked eye, giving mental relief to the patient before the actual physical medical treatment proper is given,” remarked the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake when he visited the new Military Hospital complex receiving finishing touches at Narahenpita this morning (26) for the second time in less than 40 days.

  • Adding a New Feature, Army's 64th Anniversary Ceremonies Launched at Sri Dalada Maligawa


    A series of special religious observances, the precursor coinciding with the forthcoming Sri Lanka Army's 64th anniversary and the Army Day (October 10), for the first time since the inception of the Army in 1949, got underway at the most sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) in Kandy throughout Saturday (28) where all Army Flags were symbolically blessed and all War Heroes remembered, invoking blessings and transferring merits.

  • Mega Musical Show Plus Community Programmes Marks 62 Div 3rd Anniversary


    A mega musical show followed a full-day sports meet under the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) to coincide with the Division’s 3rd Anniversary on Saturday (26) at Parakramapura Wijaya ground in Vavuniya. A huge gathering joined the mega event, headed by Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) as the Chief Guest.
     
  • New Cafeteria for 54 Division Opened


    Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) at the invitation of Brigadier M.A.M Dias, General Officer Commanding 54 Division opened the new 54 Division cafeteria and donated a large stock of books to the 54 Division library during a simple ceremony on Friday (25).
     
  • VIR Soldiers to Reside in Two New Pre-fabricated Billets


    Two new pre-fabricated residential buildings, erected at the 19 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Regimental Headquarters in Vavuniya, were vested in the soldiers during a simple ceremony.  Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) as the Chief Guest for the ceremonial inauguration took part in the event.
