  • 'Exercise - Cormorant Strike IV' Ends in Triumphant Note


    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, intending to formally thank all those who worked hard to make the ongoing ‘Exercise - Cormorant Strike IV – 2013’, called at the Minneriya Army Cantonment on Monday (23) after witnessing several final training segments of the special operations of Special Forces, including an attack on a Naval point, supported by Kfirs, the previous day at Challitivu, close to Vakarai in the East.
     
  • Special Issue of "White Hackle" Dedicated To New Commander Presented


    A special issue of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry's monthly periodical, "White Hackle,"  dedicated to the incumbent Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, himself a distinguished infantryman of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI), was presented to him Saturday (21) morning at Army Headquarters during a brief ceremony, attended by a representative gathering of senior SLLI officers.

    The 16th ‘Sri Lanka Army Para Games - 2013’ final tournament, the year’s platform that showcases multiple sports and athletic skills of more than 845 disable War Heroes of the Army, got to a ceremonial start Tuesday (24) morning with Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, inaugurating the event at Colombo Sugathadasa Stadium as the Chief Guest.

    The 12 km road stretch between Ayakachchi - Kaddaikadu road that connects to Kovilvayal, Mulliyan, Kevil and Kaddaikadu main areas in the Jaffna peninsula was completely renovated by the Engineer troops of the Army in cooperation with members of the civilians in the area. The road patch that remained completely damaged with many pot holes prevented vehicles engaged in commercial work and public transport services......

  • Army Rifle Shooters Champion the IMSSU National Shooting Competition


    Finals of the International Metallic Silhouette Shooting Union (IMSSU) National Shooting Competition, organized by the Negombo Rifle club under the guidance of the National Rifle Society took place on Saturday (21) at the firing range in Katana, Negombo. 160 shooters from 11 clubs participated in this five-day competition which started on 17 September. The Army team swept the tournament as the overall winner in the open category.
  • Jaffna Ex-Servicemen Found Own Branch & Enjoy Together


    The newly-founded Jaffna Branch of the Sri Lanka Ex-servicemen’s Association had its first social gathering at its new office premises in the Army-managed Civil Affairs and Public Relations Office complex in Jaffna on Friday (20) under the aegis of Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J).
